When asked what went through his head upon realizing that he was going against two of Asia’s finest, Chua replied, “I didn’t think too much about that since that would only add pressure on my part… I just did what I had to do, which is to stay calm and focused all throughout. I told myself that I still have unfinished business. Luckily, my game plan worked well during the stepladder finals since I was able to start strong which led to my win.

TBAM’s Chua posted a 247 against Mak’s 217 in the first match, and followed his strong game with an impressive 247 and 267, beating top seed Hong’s 162 and 217.

“I used the Hammer Phobia in the 1st match and Hammer Black Widow Red Legend Pearl in the 2nd match,” noted Chua. “Black Widow Red Legend Pearl did most of the job during the stepladder finals, since it had a great reaction and pin carry. I was able to hit strings of strikes with it, which led to my victory.”

Chua was awarded with an iconic trophy designed by internationally-recognized Filipino sculptor Joe Datuin.

I want to thank PBF, POC and PSC for hosting a very successful International Open again. It feels so great and so special to win my first International Open Masters Title here in Manila.” expressed Chua. “This would serve as a great learning experience and confidence booster for my upcoming tournaments particularly the Singapore Open and 2017 SEA Games. Again, this victory wouldn’t be possible without the help of the Lord, my parents, coaches and sponsors who are always there to support and guide me until the end.
