18th Sletba Open: Matias, Hernandez roll a 300
It really must have something to do with the well-kept lanes of the Sta. Lucia Bowling Center in Cainta, Rizal.
Two more perfect games were made in the ongoing 18th Sletba (Sta. Lucia East Tenpin Bowling Association) Open, the fourth posted since the week-long tournament opened last Saturday.
Marc Matias of Pearl Bowlers’ Association of Parañaque (PBAP)-Bowlmart coasted to his 300 game Tuesday night during the singles event on lanes 25-26. Matias used a 15-pound T-Road ball by Storm.
On Wednesday, Philippine Youth Team standout Enzo Hernandez of TBAM (Tenpin Bowling Association of Makati)-Prima posted his 300 marker using a 15-pound Code Black SP by Storm on lanes 17-18. Hernandez was a member of the national team which competed in the recently concluded Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
The first two perfect scores were made by Nicco Olaivar of PBA (Pasig Bowling Association) and Ding de Leon of Sletba.
Jay-Ar Tan of PBAP-Bowlmart now leads the Masters qualifying with a total of 1551, dislodging erstwhile leader Jonas Baltasar of TBAM-Prima by a single pin (1550). Pabs Peñalba of Sletba is still in third with 1532, but Hernandez’s perfect game pushed him to the fourth spot with 1531.
In Group 2, Lito Santarinala, Eric Umali and Peñalba, all of Sletba, remained on top with a six-game series of 1644, 1627, and 1593, respectively.
